Our work with The University of Manchester
We provided coaching and training services to the University of Manchester in 2014, for staff who had self-identified as being disabled.

Achieving Your Potential (AVP).
This was the first-ever development programme of it’s kind at the University. It was considered to be so valuable that we were asked to repeat the programme for four more consecutive years. It formed part of the University's response to it’s annual staff survey results which highlighted a growing need for support for disabled staff. The AYP programme comprised of 4 days training ( 3 facilitators ) and 2 days of 1:1 coaching for up to 18 participants. It ’ s aim was to support disabled staff in developing greater confidence, setting their own goals and encouraging new networks so they felt empowered to explore future opportun ities themselves.

‘I liked the different perspectives on learning styles and understanding resolution/conflict. I thought the bravery of the group was amazing.’

‘Thank you for such a memorable and enjoyable course and special thanks to Jane for being so caring and helpful.’

BAME
We also ran an innovative programme to enable University staff from diverse backgrounds to take more control over their lives. It was designed solely for professional services staff (non-academic, grades 1-5). Groups of participants were encouraged to have meaningful and productive conversations with Managers and HR in order to achieve their desired career progression. The programme offered up to five coaching sessions plus a further workshop after a break of a few months to review learning. This pilot scheme helped a diverse group of staff to become positive role models and enabled the University to further boost it’s Equality & Inclusion credentials.

‘Really good balance between activities and more formal presentations. I appreciated having time to hear from everyone and the chance to network.’

‘Great to speak openly without feeling judged.’
